The present invention relates to a positive electrode for a rechargeable lithium ion battery comprised of single particles containing a compound of the formula LiMPCU, whereby M is a metal selected from the group consisting of Co, Ni, Mn, Fe, Ti or combinations thereof, and whereby in a X-Ray diffraction chart of the electrode the ratio of the intensity I1: I2 of two selected peaks (1) and (2) is larger than (9:1) and wherein I1 represents essentially the intensity of peak (1) assigned to the (020) plane and I2 represents the intensity of peak (2) assigned to the (301) plane. The invention relates further to a process for the manufacture of such a positive electrode and to a battery comprising such an electrode.

L'invention concerne une électrode positive destinée à un accumulateur au lithium-ion rechargeable comprenant des particules uniques renfermant un composé de formule LiMPCU, dans laquelle M désigne un métal sélectionné dans le groupe comprenant Co, Ni, Mn, Fe, Ti ou des combinaisons de ceux-ci et sur un graphique de diffraction de rayons x de l'électrode, le rapport de l'intensité I1: I2 des deux pics sélectionnés (1 et 2) étant supérieur à 9:1 et I1représentant sensiblement l'intensité du pic (1) attribué au (020) plan et I2 représentant l'intensité du pic (2) attribué au (301) plan. L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication d'une telle électrode positive et un accumulateur renfermant une telle électrode.
