A method of stochastically modeling a plurality of litho-facies within a formation includes defining a facies classification for each of a top and a base of the formation, dividing the formation into a plurality of layers, and interpolating classifications for each of the plurality of layers, based on the defined facies classification for the top and the base, wherein the interpolating includes a random variation component.

L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à modéliser de manière stochastique plusieurs lithofaciès situés à l'intérieur d'une formation géologique. Ce procédé consiste à: définir une classification de faciès pour une partie haute de ladite formation et pour la base de cette dernière; diviser ladite formation en plusieurs couches; et interpoler les classifications pour chacune de ces couches, en fonction de la classification de faciès définie pour la partie haute et pour la base, ce processus d'interpolation comprenant une composante à variabilité aléatoire.
