2089157 9203735 PCTABS00011 Current techniques for the diagnosis of liver fluke infection in animals involve examination of faecal matter for parasite eggs and as such are difficult to use outside a research environment. The invention provides an antibody-binding region of a liver fluke tegument protein comprising a peptide with an amino-acid sequence: Asparagine-Lysine-Glutamic acid-Glycine-Glutamic acid-Proline-Glutamic acid as well as antibodies raised against it. Either the antibody-binding sequence or antibodies raised against it can be used in a test system for the diagnosis of liver fluke infection.
