ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A new elongated metal structural member, used as a building structure stud, consist of two spaced flanges with an intervening web offset to one side of a median plane. The web has apertures therein to reduce thermal transmission between the flanges leaving narrow straps extending between the flanges. The straps are formed to a channel section and the channel edges are tapered from the centre to the ends to provide maximum rigidity with minimum amount of material. One of the flanges is smaller than the other so that two members can be turned end-for-end and nested to form a composite member of greater rigidity when required.
