ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A load carrier for a vehicle is provided with legs adjacent each corner and has at least one beam extending longitudinally thereof, spaced inwardly from the side edges. The legs are pivotable from a vertical position for supporting the load carrier on the ground, to a horizontal position for supporting the load carrier on the vehicle. The legs are situated, in their horizontal attitude at the edge of the carrier and each leg is provided with at least one supporting surface coplanar with the supporting surface of the beam, to aid in supporting the load carrier on the vehicle. The legs may be telescopic and there may be interengaging means on the vehicle and the supporting surfaces for positive location of the load carrier on the vehicle.
