ABSTRACT A rack for installation on a pick up truck having a cab and a box for carrying long loads to be supported on the rack with one end above the cab roof and the other end on the tailgate of the box. The rack has support means which extend at least partly up the height of the cab above the box floor. Preferably it is made of steel tubing and can be used to anchor tie ropes. The rack also has locating means to removably couple the rack to the box and restrict movement of the rack. Preferably this includes an inverted U-shaped channel for receiving a rim on an upright panel forming a forward part of the box and a pair of legs positioned for location adjacent to side walls forming part of the box. The rack is designed for ease of installation and features a pivoted joint between the legs and the support means to facilitate storage of the rack when not in use. - 1 -
