A loading assembly (20) is provided that is configured to load transport containers (16) with bulk material (12) quickly and efficiently. The assembly includes a load bin (18) having a cross section conforming to an open end (30) of a container (14) and a drive mechanism (22) configured to urge the load bin (18) into and out of the container (14). When fully inserted, the contents of the load bin (18) are completely disposed within the container (14). The loading assembly (10) further includes a barrier (24) configured to keep the load confined within the container (14), while the load bin (18) opens to allow the load to remain within the container (14) upon retraction of the load bin (18). In this manner, the container (14) can be filled to capacity in a single operation.
