Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to a loading-drive stop mechanism for a video tape recorder which has a loading gear ring with a pinch roller, a transmitting-gear train to rotate the ring and a rotation stop mechanism which connects and disconnects the gear train from a motor so as to stop the turning of the ring when the loading or unloading of the ring is finished. The rotation stop mechanism includes a recess formed on the peripheral surface of the ring and a roller mounted on a rocking plate, which roller fits into the recess to restrain the ring from turning when the loading or unloading is finished. The mechanism is compact for use in a portable tape recorder and has the advantage that when the loading and unloading are finished, the ring is precisely driven by the motor.
