A method of preventing adhesions by topical administration of fibrinolysis enhancing agents is described. The method uses a topically applied polymeric matrix for delivery of a fibrinolytic agent, preferably urokinase, tPA, hirudin, or most preferably, ancrod. In the most preferred embodiment, the matrix is extremely thin and is polymerized in suti to form a biodegradable polymeric matrix. The matrix provides controlled release of the agent over a period of time effective to prevent surgical adhesions and is biodegradable, usually within the same time frame. Examples demonstrate that the combination of the matrix and the urokinase, tPA, birudin, or ancrod is effective in preventing surgical adhesions.

L'invention concerne un procédé de prévention contre des adhérences par administration localisée d'agents d'amplification de la fibrinolyse. Ledit procédé utilise une matrice polymère appliquée localement, afin d'administrer un agent fibrinolytique, de préférence urokinase, tPA, hirudine ou, encore de préférence ancrode. Dans le mode de réalisation préféré, la matrice est extrêmement mince et est polymérisée in situ, de façon à constituer une matrice polymère biodégradable. La matrice permet d'effectuer la libération contrôlée de l'agent sur une durée efficace pour empêcher les adhérences chirurgicales et est biodégradable habituellement dans le même laps de temps. Des exemples démontrent que la combinaison de la matrice et d'urokinase, tPA, hirudine ou ancrode permet d'empêcher efficacement les adhérences chirurgicales.
