A local mobile access network including a distribution network (RDL) formed by a plurality of nodes (NIE), each node (NIE) being connected to a concentrator (CTR) which is connected to at least one radio terminal (BR) designed to communicate with mobile units linked with the terminal (BR). At least one of the nodes (NIE) of the distribution network (RDL) is connected via routing equipment (PONT) to a virtual channel switch (VCX). Each virtual connection established between a mobile unit and the switch (VCX) is identified for the entire duration of the communication, no matter which radio terminal (BR) is connected to the mobile unit, by a unique virtual channel identifier (VCI) for the user cell and a unique virtual channel identifier (VCI) for the signalling cells. During the hand-over phases when a mobile unit is connected to two radio terminals (BR), these two terminals (BR) can exchange information which is then transmitted by cells carrying the signalling channel identifier (VCI) allocated to the mobile unit.

Au moins un des noeuds (NIE) du réseau de distribution (RDL) est connecté au moyen d'équipement d'acheminement (PONT) à un commutateur de canal virtuel (VCX). Chaque connexion virtuelle établie entre une unité mobile et le commutateur (VCX) est identifiée pour toute la durée de la communication, quel que soit le terminal radio (BR) qui est connecté à l'unité mobile, par un unique identificateur de canal virtuel (VCI) pour la cellule dans laquelle se trouve l'utilisateur et un unique identificateur de canal virtuel (VCI) pour les cellules de signalisation. Pendant les phases de passage où une unité mobile est connectée à deux terminaux radio (BR), ces deux terminaux (BR) peuvent échanger de l'information qui est alors acheminée par des cellules qui transmettent l'identificateur de canal de signalisation (VCI) affecté à l'unité mobile.
