A method and system are provided for determining the geographic locations of events in a linear referencing system (LRS), such as a LRS for the Department of Transportation. The method and system utilize similarities between a LRS and the postal addressing system used in the United States. A LRS event geocoding database and schema are created from portions of the postal addressing system schema and geographic information system (GIS) schema. LRS data is encoded as postal address data as defined in the postal addressing system. The LRS data and GIS data are conflated to populate the LRS event geocoding database using similar transformation logic as for current postal address geocoding. The geographic location of a given LRS event is generated using geocoding software that utilizes the linear measure implicit in the LRS event identifier and the LRS event geocoding database.
L'invention porte sur un procédé et un système pour déterminer les emplacements géographiques d'événements dans un système de référence linéaire (LRS), tel qu'un LRS pour le ministère des transports. Le procédé et le système utilisent des similarités entre un LRS et le système d'adresse postale utilisé aux Etats-Unis. Une base de données de géocodage d'événement LRS et un schéma sont créés à partir de parties du schéma de système d'adresse postale et du schéma de système d'informations géographiques (GIS). Des données LRS sont codées sous forme de données d'adresse postale comme défini dans le système d'adresse postale. Les données LRS et les données GIS font l'objet d'une fusion multisource pour peupler la base de données de géocodage d'événement LRS à l'aide d'une logique de transformation similaire quant au géocodage d'adresse postale réel. L'emplacement géographique d'un événement LRS donné est généré à l'aide d'un logiciel de géocodage qui utilise la mesure linéaire implicite dans l'identifiant d'événement LRS et la base de données de géocodage d'événement LRS.
