TITLE Location of Fuel Channel Spacers INVENTORS Michel J. Pettigrew Ronald G. Wensel ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A system for determining the location of spacers and other dimensional parameters of a fuel channel in an operating CANDU reactor. The system is based on the discovery that fuel channel spacers produce a relatively abrupt variation in curvature of the pressure tube and that the position of these variations can be determined by passing an appropriate curvature recording device through the fuel channel while the reactor is in operation. The curvature recording device is designed to have a geometry similar to that of a fuel bundle to facilitate handling by a conventional fuelling machine, and also such that the normal coolant flow and the spacial reactivity distribution is not substantially altered.
