ABSTRACT A key is retained in a lock by a ball which, during insertion of and withdrawal of the key, can move radially of lock axis out of the way of a projection on the key. Once the key is turned from the key-insertion position, the ball is held in a position in front of the projection on the key so that withdrawal of the key is obstructed.
