2136529 9324724 PCTABS00028 A lock for securing objects, in particular cycles, against theft comprises a plurality of rod-shaped elements (4) connected with their ends by means of pivot means (5) to form a chain which can be closed into a loop by means of a security lock (6). Also the security lock itself has a pivot means so that all rod-shaped elements (4) are interconnected in a pivotable manner. The movable parts of the pivot means are each housed within a strong casing (8, 24, 26). Furthermore, the ends of each rod-shaped element (4) are constructed as a bearing for permitting a rotation of each rod-shaped element about its longitudinal axis relative to the casings. These features enhance the freedom of movement of the lock whereby it is rendered more difficult to force the lock. The pivots are well protected from destruction.
