The assembly includes a lock with a main lock body having a bottom keyhole and an inverted u-shaped double rung top hasp connected to the top of the main body and extending upwardly therefrom. The assembly also includes a flexible, resilient, elastomeric protective lock cover removably enclosing and sealing the lock body against the elements. The cover is in two pieces. It includes a bottom portion extending over the lower sides of the lock body and continuing below the lock body. The bottom portion has opposed sides and a tapered bottom defining an openable closed slit through which, when opened, by squeezing opposed sides toward each other, the keyhole can be reached by a key. The cover also includes an upper cap having a top and interconnected depending sides. The inner surfaces of the cap sides bear a circumferential groove engageable with and of smaller diameter than the base of a circumferential bead with sloping top and bottom on the outer surface of the sides of the bottom portion. The groove and bead are horizontal and, when engaged, releasably hold the cap sealingly to the bottom portion. The top includes hasp holes into which downwardly projecting circumferential sealing extensions depend. The cover may be shaped to fit a flat, rectangular or square lock or a circular (in outline) lock and the cap top may include a hasp hole groove to facilitate movement of the free end of the hasp over the top.
Cette invention concerne un cadenas ayant un corps principal à entrée de clé dans le fond et arceau métallique en U inversé, articulé à son sommet et se prolongeant vers le haut. Elle concerne également un protège-cadenas amovible, souple et résistant aux chocs en élastomère qui recouvre le corps du cadenas pour le protéger contre les intempéries. Le protège-cadenas est en deux pièces. Il comprend une partie inférieure qui recouvre le bas du cadenas ainsi que sa base. Cette partie inférieure comprend des parois latérales opposées et un fond conique comportant une fente normalement fermée que l'on peut ouvrir en pinçant les côtés opposés de ladite partie inférieure afin de permettre l'insertion de la clé. Le protège-cadenas comprend également un capuchon ayant un sommet et des côtés interconnectés. Les faces intérieures du capuchon comportent une gorge annulaire de diamètre plus petit que la base du bourrelet annulaire à flancs supérieur et inférieur chanfreinés ménagé sur la face extérieure de la partie inférieure susmentionnée, gorge annulaire destinée à recevoir le bourrelet ci-dessus. La gorge et le bourrelet sont horizontaux et, lorsqu'ils sont imbriqués, ils contribuent à fixer le capuchon à la partie inférieure de façon étanche mais amovible. Le dessus du capuchon comporte des trous pour le passage des branches de l'arceau métallique, trous en périphérie desquels est prévue une lèvre d'étanchéité annulaire saillant vers le bas. On peut donner au protège-cadenas différentes formes selon le type de cadenas à équiper, à corps rectangulaire ou carré à dessus plat ou à corps cylindrique, et le dessus du capuchon peut comporter une gorge menant au trou recevant la branche mobile de l'arceau, gorge destinée à faciliter le déplacement de cette branche au-dessus du corps du cadenas.
