LOCK DEADBOLT PROTECTOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Mortise lock has a guardbolt which, when depressed, moves a lever inside the lock. The end of the lever moves a vertically sliding interlock slide from a first position in which is fits in a recess in the deadbolt and blocks the throwing of the dead- bolt, to a second position. In the second position the slide clears the recess and prmits the deadbolt to be extended. This protects against the extension of the deadbolt unless the door is closed. (96-Y)
