Abstract The invention relates to a lock for centrally locking and unlocking drawers 4, 5 arranged one above the other in a piece of furniture 1. At a closing bar 12 adjustably guided at the piece of furniture 1 there are provided two control slides 13, 14; 13a, 14a per drawer 4, 5, which slides cooperate with control tracks 30, 31, 32 of a control element 9. One of the control slides serves as an opening slide 13, 13a and the other one as a locking slide 14, 14a. The control slides 13, 13a; 14, 14a are relatively adjustable along the closing bar 12 for the purpose of opening and closing one individual drawer and locking the drawers positioned above the individual drawer. The locking slides positioned underneath the actuated drawer are unmovably held via control means 29, 34, 40, 45 relative to the drawers positioned underneath. The control slides of all drawers 4, 5, via the closing bar 12, are jointly movable into the open or closed position for locking or releasing all pushed-in drawers 4, 5. The measures described ensure that when actuating one drawer in the sense of opening it, all the remaining drawers are effectively secured against being pulled out. Figure 1
