LOCK MECHANISM Abstract of the Disclosure There is disclosed a lock mechanism including a casing adapted to be mounted to a door or door frame. The lock mecha- nism has been designed to take up a minimum amount of space and thus is accommodatable in a relatively shallow casing structure. Said lock mechanism includes a latch bolt pivotally mounted for movement between a first position wherein a portion thereof extends from said casing and a second retracted position, asso- ciated with the latch bolt in a deadlock, also pivotally mounted and movable between a blocking position wherein said deadlock will prevent retraction of the latch bolt from its first position, and a non-blocking position wherein said latch bolt is free to move to said retracted position, with biasing means urging said deadlock toward said blocking position. To control the opera- tion of the deadlock, a deadlock trigger is mounted to said casing and is movable between an extended position wherein a portion of said trigger extends from said casing, and a re- tracted position. A deadlock position lever provides the opera- tional connection between said trigger and the deadlock, said lever being pivotally mounted with respect to said casing, and including a first end portion operatively associated with said deadlock trigger, and a second end portion operatively asso- ciated with said deadlock, such that when said trigger is in the extended position, said deadlock lever will be biased to a position wherein said second end portion will effect movement of said deadlock to said non-blocking position with respect to the latch bolt, with movement of said trigger to the retracted position, freeing said deadlock for movement to the blocking position. - 1A -
