A lock protector consists of a cover member, a gasket attached to one side of the cover, plus a keyhole insert in the form of a flexible, corrugated loop, connected to and projecting from the same side of the cover as the gasket. The keyhole insert may be pushed into a keyhole, whereupon it will deform elastically such that the corrugations mechanically and removably engaging the inner mechanisms of the lock, thereby holding the lock protector in the lock, and also holding the gasket tightly against the surface surrounding the lock so as to prevent water from getting into the keyhole of the lock. The lock protector may be easily removed by grasping the cover and pulling the device out of the lock.
