ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a lock seal for containers comprising a screw-on cap and a retaining ring which is destructible during the screw-off procedure and has a break- off section bounded by predetermined breaking points, a lug cam, which is unyielding in the screw-off direction but yielding in the screw-on direction, being provided on the inside of said break-off section, against which lug cam one of a plurality of axially downwardly extending pegs on the rim of the screw cap rests while the retaining ring is held unrotatably on the container, the boundaries of the break-off section of the retain- ing ring comprising a predetermined breaking place coherent with said retaining ring, and an open gap, and the ends of the ring situated before the boundaries of the break-off section being interconnected by a bridge strap which is shaped to the outer contour of a supporting surface of the container, with its upper edge not touching the pegs of the screw cap, and in the mid region of an inside wall of the break-off section and the out- side wall of the bridge strap a connecting cross-piece being provided and contacting strips corresponding to a counter-support of the container being moulded onto the part of the ring situated opposite the inside wall of the break-off section.
