A lockable safety shield for a prefillable syringe is provided. The design of the lockable safety shield enhances pharmaceutical manufacturers' ease of assembling the various components as part of its filling or processing of the prefillable syringes in normal practice. A collar is attachable to the distal hub of the prefillable syringe. A safety shield is axially slidable over the collar between a retracted position, wherein the distal end of the piercing element associated with the prefillable syringe is exposed, and an extended position, wherein the safety shield is locked to the collar to protectively cover the distal end of the piercing element. The safety shield includes locking structure configured so that the shield, as supplied to the pharmaceutical manufacturer, can be easily fitted to the syringe. The locking structure includes at least one deflectable arm provided on the body of the shield. The deflectable arm includes a proximal end deflectable towards the interior of the shield. A stop member is provided on the interior of a shield in spaced relation to the proximal end of the deflectable arm. A ring is axially slidable over the shield to deflect the arm towards the interior of the shield to activate the locking structure. The safety shield is slid distally by an end user such that the collar is lockingly retained between the stop member and the proximal end of the deflectable arm. The collar, the stop member, and the deflectable arm may be configured to provide tactile as well as audible indication of locking to the end user.
Cette invention concerne un embout protecteur d'aiguille pour seringue à préremplissage. L'embout protecteur est conçu pour faciliter l'assemblage en usine des différents éléments constitutifs de la seringue en cours normal de remplissage ou de traitement des seringues à préremplissage. La seringue comporte une bague fixée au pavillon du corps de pompe à l'extrémité distale de celui-ci. Il est prévu un embout protecteur pouvant coulisser axialement sur la bague entre une position rentrée où l'extrémité distale de l'aiguille montée sur la seringue à préremplissage est exposée et une position sortie où il se verrouille à la bague de façon à protéger ladite extrémité distale de l'aiguille. L'embout protecteur comprend un mécanisme de verrouillage configuré de telle sorte que l'embout puisse être aisément mis en place à l'usine pharmaceutique. Ce mécanisme prend la forme d'un doigt flexible ménagé dans le corps de l'embout. Ce doigt présente une extrémité proximale qui peut être repoussée vers l'intérieur de l'embout où il est prévu une butée espacée par rapport à ladite extrémité proximale du doigt flexible. Un anneau coulissant axialement sur l'embout sert à enfoncer le doigt flexible à l'intérieur de l'embout pour actionner le mécanisme de verrouillage. L'embout est poussé vers l'extrémité distale de l'aiguille par l'utilisateur de façon que la bague soit bloquée entre la butée susmentionnée et l'extrémité proximale du doigt flexible. La bague, la butée et le doigt flexible peuvent être configurés de façon à fournir à l'utilisateur une confirmation audible et tactile du verrouillage.
