The apparatus provides a locking mechanism for an armrest of an automobile or similar motor vehicle to a structural pin or post. The mechanism includes a cap with a lateral slit into which a button and spring are assembled. The spring outwardly biases the button which is limited in its outward travel by a detent arrangement which maintains the outer portion of the button flush with the cap. In this arrangement, the spring further engages a circumferential slot on the structural pin or post thereby locking the armrest to the structural pin or post. However, in order to remove the armrest from the structural pin or post, the user pushes thebutton inwardly, thereby compressing the spring and moving the spring out of thecircumferential notch thereby unlocking the armrest from the structural pin or post and allowing the free removal thereof.

Cette invention concerne un dispositif à mécanisme de verrouillage pour le montage d'un appui-bras de siège d'automobile ou autre véhicule moteur sur une cheville ou un montant d'ossature. Le dispositif comporte un capuchon à fente latérale recevant un ensemble bouton/ressort de verrouillage. Le ressort repousse le bouton vers l'extérieur, la course de celui-ci étant limitée par un cran d'arrêt qui maintient la partie extérieure du bouton en affleurement avec le capuchon. Selon le montage adopté, le ressort s'engage dans une gorge circonférentielle de la cheville ou du montant d'ossature de manière à verrouiller l'appui-bras à cet élément. Pour séparer aisément l'appui-bras de la cheville ou du montant d'ossature, l'utilisateur doit enfoncer le bouton pour comprimer le ressort et le sortir de la gorge circonférentielle susmentionnée.
