LOCKING COLLAR FOR SECURING MEMBERS TO A BAR Abstract of the Disclosure A locking collar for retaining an apertured weight on the bar member of a barbell and permitting repeated retention of the collar on the bar member and its removal therefrom without marring of the surface of the bar member has a main cylindrical member with a circular opening forming a sleeve which fits over the cylindrical barbell bar member. The circular sleeve has a channel formed in its inner wall in which an open arcuate inner cylindrical sleeve member in the general shape of a "C" is mounted. This inner cylindrical sleeve member is fabricated of a resilient material capable of being lessened in diameter when subjected to a force driving the open ends thereof toward each other and then returning to its original condition when the force is removed. Means which may comprise a set screw which threadably engages the collar member is used to drive the resilient inner sleeve member into clamping engagement with the bar, so that the bar is embraced by the resilient member and is not itself engaged by the set screw which would otherwise mar its surface.
