A method and apparatus to secure the coupler section of a trailer provides a locking device that includes a lock housing having a hitch ball element to engage the recess in the coupler, a shackle member lockable to the housing and having a bridge section that spans the hitch ball element and, and a latch assembly to latch and unlatch the shackle member. The shackle member is shown to be U-shaped with legs that extend through and secure to the lock housing. The latch assembly provides a ratchet- type engagement to allow adjustable locking. A rotable lock mechanism drives a cam based latch mechanism between a latch state and an unlatch state.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de fixer la section de couplage d'une remorque. Un tel appareil comprend un dispositif de verrouillage présentant un boîtier de verrouillage doté d'un élément de boule d'attache venant en contact avec l'évidement dans le coupleur, un élément d'arceau pouvant être verrouillé dans le boîtier et possédant une section de pont traversant l'élément de boule d'attache et un ensemble de verrouillage permettant de verrouiller et de déverrouiller l'élément d'arceau. Celui-ci présente une forme en U avec des segments s'étendant à travers le boîtier de verrouillage et se fixant dans celui-ci. L'ensemble de verrouillage permet d'obtenir une prise de type cliquet, permettant d'obtenir un verrouillage réglable. Un mécanisme de verrouillage rotatif entraîne un mécanisme de verrouillage à base de cams entre un état verrouillé et un état déverrouillé.
