ABSTRACT Locking means for a self-service device as well as self- locking latch and actuator means A locking device for an opening an automatic teller machine is provided by a locking flap having an indented outside portion. The flap is pivotable about an axis 9 and positioned behind an upper region projecting wall panel and in front of a lower region recessed wall panel. As the flap is pivoted, the width of the opening increases so that any ice formed may be broken up or jammed objects are released automatically. A self-locking latch and actuator means uses an actuating lever which is pivotable about pivoting axis of the flap. The actuating lever comprises a particularly shaped guide slot which is engaged by the actuator. In a first part of the guide slot, no displacement work is performed by the actuator motor, whereas in the second part, which is positioned at an angle to the first part, displacement work is performed as to move the flap in the opening or closing direction.
