A locking plate tie rod for a filter includes a tie rod body having a first face, a second face, and a filter-facing side. The filter-facing side has a profile defining a cutout. A locking member extends across the cutout. The locking member has an opening for receiving a blade support rod. The blade support rod supports the attachment end of a series of spaced blades. The cutout is sufficiently large to receive the attachment end of the spaced blades, such that a plurality of spaced blades are positioned between the first face and the second face.
