A locking switch apparatus for an electric device includes a trigger button (70) having a pair of spaced flanges (76) coope- rating to define a switch-receiving cavity. An electrical switch (30) has a hollow dielectric body (32) with opposed sidewall and bottom surfaces. A lock member (80) has a base (82) and a pair of upstanding posts (96, 98) also forming a switch-receiving cavi- ty. The switch is secured in a stationary position with the locking member (80) and trigger button (70) disposed about the switch for camming action therewith, which includes an unlocked position where the switch is de-energized, and an innerlocked position where the switch is constantly energized. By depressing the trigger button, the lock mechanism is free to disengage under the force of a return spring (92).
