This is an attachment for use on excavators. It is unique in it's configuration. It fits between the excavator stick and bucket. The thumb pivots on the same pin as the bucket. The actuating hydraulic cylinder is uniquely positioned horizontally above the digging bucket. The thumb is positioned about 12" off of center, and is a unique single blade design. The Loewen Qwik-attach Thumb is designed to be positioned in the closed position when not being used (in the bucket). This is the opposite of conventional thumbs that are stowed fully open when not in use. It attaches to the machine using the OEM pin locations. The digging bucket attaches to the Loewen Qwik-attach Thumb, using standard quick-attach lugging. The actual thumb component of this attachment is removable by means of a drift pin. This allows thumbs designed for different purposes to be interchanged, or for the thumb to be removed altogether if required.
