CA 2282976

A device for cutting a log into at least two pieces, comprises at least one elongated cutting blade having a cutting edge with an edge angle of 40° to 48°, and a pressure system for providing a relative displacement between the log and the at least one cutting blade such that the cutting edge thereof and the log contact one another and the log is thereafter cut lenghtwise by the cutting blade. The use of such a cutting blade enables one to considerably reduce the force required for sectioning a log.
