A? in which R1 denotes C12-C26-alkyl or C12-C26-alkenyl, K? denotes a group of the fomula Image or -?N(R2)3, R2 denotes C1-C3-alkyl, preferably methyl, and A? denotes an anion of one of the following formulae: R3SO3?, in which R3 is C6-C9-alkyl or alkenyl and the sum of C atoms in R1 and R3 should be at least 21; Image in which Hal is fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, R4 is C1-C5-alkyl, C2-C5-alkenyl or C1-C5-alkoxy in positrons 3, 4, 5 or 6, R5 is hydrogen or hydroxyl in positions 2 or 3, R6 is COO? or SO3? and R7 is hydro- gen or methyl, with the exception of the salicylate and - 2 - m-halogenobenzoate ions when combined with C16-alkyl- pyridinium and C16-alkyltrimethylammonium. These salts are suitable as drag reducing agents in aqueous media with turbulent flow.
