PATENT 13DV-9935 ABSTRACT A method for applying a thin layer of uncoated abrasive particles to the surface of a metallic substrate. A single layer of particles and a thin layer of metal are first deposited on a matrix. A metal matrix comprising a fine alloying powder and a metal is then deposited over the first thin metal layer and the particles using co-electrodeposition The substrate and tip are thermally treated to homogenize the thin layer and the codeposited layer containing alloying powders and metal.
