The present invention relates to a long-line fishing hook apparatus having an improved hock steering or guidance system which adjusts crooked hooks as necessary and which provides hook baiting, all in a continuous manner. The apparatus includes a sensor for detecting hook deformity and a device for straightening and reshaping the hooks detected as being deformed. Reshaping takes place preferably on an anvil which cooperates with a hammer/arm mechanism. The guidance system then directs the hooks for subsequent baiting thereof.
