LONGITUDINAL SUPPORT FOR A CONVEYOR BELT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Individual longitudinal channels equipped with closely spaced wheels running the full length of the conveyor and suspended in a natural catenary fashion by cross support cables is disclosed. The belt conveyor support includes the frame and a support for the endless flexible belt. The support includes a plurality of pairs of spaced-apart, longi- tudinally extending channel members arranged in spaced-apart, back-to-back relationship, the pairs of channel members having a plurality of diametrically related wells spaced along the longitudinal length of the channel members. Spacers between the channel members operate to maintain the channel members in parallel, spaced-apart relationship with each of the spacers being located at the ends of the sections of the channel members. The wells in the channel members each receive a roller to engage the under surface of the load run of the flexible belt. Cross-suspension members in the form of flexible stranded steel cable are provided and pass through openings in the spacers at a point between adjacent channel members sections and support the channel members in straight line relationship. Locking means lock the channel member section to the flexible suspension cable.
