ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a light-wave conducting cable, the free space be- tween the sheath and the light-wave conductor is filled with a substance which is fluid when introduced, but which, by subsequent cross-linking, assumes a resilient, no longer fluid, consistency. Materials suitable for this purpose are silicone resin, polyester resin, polyurethane rubber or expanded poly- styrene. By this means the cable is made watertight in the longitudinal direction. The material, after cross-linking, will not flow from the ends of the cable, but does still allow movement of the conductor within the casing.
