Abstract A longline repair tool for use in conjunction with longline fishing equipment, wherein as the line is being hauled on board the fishing vessel, the fish having been removed from the hook and the hooks optionally cleaned, the hooks are guided through a hook splitter or hook orienting means and pass via a hook magazine (2) into a storage magazine. Between the storage magazine and the hook splitter, a magazine (3) for new hooks (4) is provided, situated at a higher level than the hook magazine (21 and opening into it via a sloping section (3') at the hook removal recess (5) on the hook magazine (2). A means (6) for retaining damaged hooks (4') as the snells (7) are manually detached from these hooks is provided on the new hook magazine (3).
