A method and apparatus for conditioning loose-fill insulation including an elongated tubular cylinder (12) having a plurality of internal blades (14) positioned in a helical configuration. Large nodules of glass fibrous material pass through the conditioning cylinder and are combed into smaller, more uniform sizes, thus allowing a more uniform additive application further downstream in the manufacturing process. The addition of a tangential airflow (16) to the conditioning cylinder facilitates the combing process by adding a tangential force to move the nodules down the cylinder.
Procédé et dispositif pour conditionner un matériau isolant en vrac, incluant un cylindre (12) tubulaire allongé pourvu d'une pluralité de pales (14) internes qui forment une configuration hélicoïdale. De grands nodules de matériau de fibre de verre traversent le cylindre de conditionnement et sont peignés afin de produire des éléments plus uniformes de taille inférieure, ce qui permet d'appliquer un additif de manière plus uniforme en aval du procédé de fabrication. L'ajout d'un écoulement d'air tangentiel (16) dans le cylindre de conditionnement facilite le procédé de peignage, la force tangentielle ajoutée servant à faire avancer les nodules dans le cylindre.
