A lordotic implant has a frusto-conical shape with external threads. Prior to placement of the implant, vertebrae are distracted in a manner to provide a desired lordosis between the vertebrae. The pre-distracted vertebrae are then tapped to provide a tapped bore having a geometry matching the conical geometry of the implant. The threaded implant is then placed within the pre-tapped conical bore. A hollow spinal tap is disclosed which collects debris that could otherwise obstruct implant insertion.

L'invention concerne un implant lordotique en forme de tronc de cône avec des filets extérieurs. Avant placement de l'implant, on soumet les vertèbres à une détraction de manière à obtenir une lordose voulue entre les vertèbres. On taraude les vertèbres soumises à une détraction préalable pour obtenir un trou taraudé présentant une géométrie correspondant à la géométrie conique de l'implant. L'implant fileté est ensuite placé à l'intérieur du trou conique préalablement taraudé. Cette invention a également trait à une tarière permettant de retirer des débris qui risqueraient de gêner l'insertion de l'implant.
