A lottery ticket having a substrate layer with game data elements printed in a game area and an opaque scratch-off layer applied over game area is modified by game data elements being formed with a four color design. Each game data element can be formed by a game symbol with the design surrounding the game symbol where the design contains graphics which are associated by a theme with the game symbol. Alternatively each game data element can be formed by a game symbol where the design is a background scene on which the game symbol is printed or each game data element can be formed by a game symbol as an integral part of the design.
