The present invention relates to a steel strip with low aluminum content, which includes between 0.050 and 0.080% by weight of carbon, between 0.25 and 0.40% by weight of manganese, less than 0.020% by weight of aluminum, and between 0.010 and 0.014% by weight of nitrogen, the remainder being iron and inevitable trace impurities. The steel consists of free carbon, a number of grains per mm2 greater than 30,000 and, when in an aged condition said sheet includes a percentage elongation A % satisfying the relationship: (750-Rm)/16.5SA %S(850-Rm)/17.5 Rm where Rm is the maximum rupture strength of the steel. L'invention a pour objet une tôle d'acier à basse teneur en aluminium comprenant en poids entre 0,050 et 0,080 % de carbone, entre 0,25 et 0,40 % de manganèse, moins de 0,020 % d'aluminium, entre 0,010 et 0,014% d'azote, le reste étant du fer et des impuretés résiduelles inévitables. L'acier comporte du carbone à l'état libre, un nombre de grains par mm2 supérieur à 30000 et, à l'état vieilli, un taux d'allongement A% satisfaisant la relation : (750 - Rm) / 16,5 ~ A% ~ (850 - Rm) / 17,5 Rm étant la résistance maximale à la rupture.
