Solid gas generant compositions produce low particulates (e.g., condensed ash) when ignited. The solid gas generant compositions most preferably include a nitramine, at least one oxidizer selected from nitrates of strontium or cerium, in admixture with or without potassium perchlorate, and a binder. Graphite may optionally be employed. The gas generant compositions are usefully employed in inflatable vehicle occupant passive restraint systems (e.g., air bag systems).

L'invention concerne des compositions génératrices de gaz solides produisant un nombre réduit de particules (cendres condensées, par exemple) lorsqu'elles sont allumées. Ces compositions génératrices de gaz solides comprennent idéalement une nitramine, au moins un oxydant choisi parmi des nitrates de strontium ou de cérium, en combinaison ou non avec du perchlorate de potassium, ainsi qu'un liant. On peut éventuellement faire intervenir du graphite. Lesdites compositions génératrices de gaz sont notamment utiles dans des systèmes de sécurité automatiques gonflables destinés aux occupants d'un véhicule (airbags, etc.).
