A wave energy converter comprising: a linear generator comprising an armature and a stator; a float connected by a linkage to the armature; wherein the weight of the armature and the linkage bear downwards upon the float and one of the armature and stator comprises electrical coils and the other of the armature and stator comprises a stack of permanent magnets, the arrangement being such that during the ascending portion of a passing wave, the buoyancy of the float causes the armature to rise, and as the wave falls away, the combined weight of the float, linkage and armature causes the armature to fall, electricity thereby being generated upon the upstroke and the downstroke, the stack of permanent magnets or electrical coils of the armature being sufficiently sized in terms of deadweight to procure that the combined weight of the armature, linkage and float and any other travelling components act sufficiently against the electromotive force being generated by the linear generator upon the downward stroke to ensure that the float descends to the trough of the passing wave.
La présente invention concerne un convertisseur dénergie des vagues comportant: un générateur linéaire comprenant une armature et un stator; un flotteur connecté par un lien à larmature; le poids de larmature et de la liaison exerçant une poussée vers le bas sur le flotteur et un élément parmi larmature et le stator comportant des bobines électriques et lautre parmi larmature et le stator comportant une empilement daimants permanents, lagencement étant tel que lors du passage de la partie ascendante dune vague, la flottabilité du flotteur entraîne la montée de larmature, et lors de la chute de la vague, le poids combiné du flotteur, du lien et de larmature entraîne la chute de larmature, permettant ainsi la génération délectricité lors de la course montante et descendante, lempilement daimants permanents ou de bobines électriques de larmature étant suffisamment dimensionnés en termes de poids mort pour assurer que le poids combiné de larmature, du lien et du flotteur et de tout autre composant de déplacement agisse suffisamment contre la force électromotrice générée par le générateur linéaire sur la course descendante pour assurer la descente du flotteur vers le creux de la vague.
