The present invention relates to pulverulent water-swellable hydrophilic (co)polymers which comprise, for reducing dusting, auxiliaries from the series con- sisting of silicones and/or other auxiliaries, the latter in a total amount of less than 1 % by weight, for example polyglycols or polyglycol ethers, the vapour pressure of the individual auxiliaries being not more than 0.1 mbar at 20°C and their melting point being not more than 100°C, processes for their preparation and their use for absorption of water and aqueous solutions.
