A detonator for a shock tube connector system, comprising an elongated exterior shell including a main section and an explosive end portion at one longitudinal end of said main section, said main section having a signal end longitudinally opposite said explosive end portion; an explosive charge contained within said explosive end portion of said shell, said explosive charge being distributed along the longitudinal length of said explosive end portion, whereby ignition of said explosive charge produces a laterally directed explosive force; and an initiating shock tube operatively connected to said explosive charge, said initiating shock tube entering said detonator at said signal end of said main section of said shell and being adapted to transmit an ignition signal to said detonator causing said explosive charge to ignite.

Il s'agit d'un détonateur pour dispositif à raccord de tube à chocs. Ce détonateur comprend les éléments qui suivent. Une enveloppe allongée comportant une section principale et une partie terminale explosive à une extrémité longitudinale de la dite section principale. Cette section principale comporte une extrémité de signal opposée de manière longitudinale à ladite partie terminale explosive; une charge explosive contenue dans ladite partie terminale explosive de ladite enveloppe. La charge explosive est répartie sur la partie longitudinale de partie terminale explosive, par laquelle l'allumage de la charge explosive produit une force explosive latérale; et un tube à chocs de déclenchement raccordé activement à ladite charge explosive. Le tube à chocs de déclenchement pénètre le détonateur à l'extrémité de signal de la section principale de l'enveloppe. Ce tube est adapté pour transmettre un signal d'allumage au détonateur, ce qui produit l'allumage de la charge explosive.
