ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Low-foam or foam-depressing surfactant mixtures based on water- soluble and/or water-emulsifiable polyalkylene glycol ethers of relatively long-chain alcohols containing components I, II and, if desired, III in the quantities indicated: I) from 20 to 80% by weight of polyethylene glycol ethers corresponding to the following general formula R1 - 0 - (CH2CH2O)n - R2 (I) in which R1 is a straight-chain or branched C8-C18 alkyl or alkenyl radical, R2 is a C4-C8 alkyl radical and n is a number of from 3 to 7, II) from 10 to 40% by weight of alkyl polyalkylene glycol mixed ethers corresponding to the following general formula Image (II) in which R3 is a straight-chain or branched C8-C18 alkyl radi- cal, x is a number of from 1 to 3 and y is a number of from 3 to 6, and III) from 0 to 40% by weight of alkyl (poly)propylene glycol ethers corresponding to the following general formula Image (III) in which R4 is a straight-chain or branched C16-C22 alkyl or alkenyl radical and z is a number of from 1 to 3.
