A cigarette wrapping paper comprising a base wrapping paper (12) and, provided with interspaces on one surface thereof, multiple burn suppression zones (14). The burn suppression zones (14) are formed by application of a polyvinyl alcohol of 900 or greater polymerization degree or a polyvinyl alcohol whose 3 wt.% aqueous solution exhibits a viscosity of 5 to 30 mPa.cndot.s as measured at 20°C.

L'invention porte sur un papier à rouler les cigarettes qui comporte un papier à rouler de base (12) qui est pourvu, sur une surface, d'espaces intermédiaires et de multiples zones de suppression de la combustion (14). Les zones de suppression de la combustion (14) sont formées par l'application d'un poly(alcool vinylique) ayant un degré de polymérisation de 900 ou plus ou d'un poly(alcool vinylique) dont la solution aqueuse à 3 % en poids présente une viscosité de 5 à 30 mPa ·s, mesurée à 20 °C.
