Seam welding apparatus (50) with a bearing support arrangement for a transversely movable upper welding wheel (51). The upper wheel is non- rotatably secured adjacent one end of an elongate electrically conductive shaft (66), the other shaft end being rotatably supported within an electrically conductive bearing assembly (67) which transmits electricity thereto from an external source (63). A non-rotatable bearing housing (68) is pivotally supported relative to a machine frame (61) by a pivot (74) which extends adjacent the housing perpendicularly to the shaft, the pivot being disposed remote from the wheel. A pressure cylinder (81) and ram (82) are mounted on the frame, the ram being movably supported and acting downwardly onto a spring unit (83) and electrical insulator (84). The spring and insulator are rotatably supportingly engaged with the shaft adjacent the wheel. The housing and shaft are mounted on a movable slide (73) to which the ram is preferably coupled. The spring unit is coupled between the slide and shaft.

L'invention a trait à un appareil de soudage à la molette (50) pourvu d'un corps de palier pour molette de soudage (51) à déplacement transversal. La molette supérieure est rattachée non rotative au voisinage immédiat d'une extrémité d'un arbre allongé électriquement conducteur (66) dont l'autre extrémité est montée rotative dans un ensemble palier électriquement conducteur (67) qui lui transmet l'électricité provenant d'une source extérieure (63). Un logement de palier non rotatif (68) possède un montage à pivot (74) relativement à un cadre de machine (61), ce pivot s'étendant au voisinage du logement perpendiculairement à l'arbre et se trouvant à une certaine distance de la molette. Un cylindre de compression (81) et un piston (82) sont montés sur le cadre, le piston étant monté mobile et agissant dans le sens descendant sur un ressort (83) et un isolant électrique (84). Le ressort et l'isolant sont en contact d'appui rotatif avec l'arbre adjacent à la molette. Le logement et l'arbre sont montés sur une glissière mobile (73) à laquelle le piston est, de préférence, couplé. Le ressort est couplé à la glissière et à l'arbre.
