A bi-directional fiber optic jumper (135) that connects two fiber optic system common wavelength fibers is disclosed. The retraction of the jumper (135) exposes fiber connections and enables a system reconfiguration such as adding or dropping of common wavelengths into open fiber connections. A magnet (149) is provided in the chassis of the jumper (135) to engage a magneto-resistive device, such as a Hall effect sensor feature (136), that is contained on an optical add/drop device product chassis. The Hall effect sensor (136) facilitates monitoring of insertion or withdrawal of the fiber channel jumper (135) from the optical add/drop device.
L'invention concerne un cavalier à fibres optiques bidirectionnel connectant deux fibres à longueurs d'ondes communes d'un système à fibres optiques. Le retrait de ce cavalier expose les connexions des fibres et permet une reconfiguration du système, et notamment une insertion ou une extraction de longueurs d'ondes communes dans des connexions de fibres ouvertes. Un aimant est disposé dans le châssis du cavalier de manière à entrer en contact avec un dispositif magnétorésistif, tel qu'un capteur à effet Hall, installé sur un châssis d'un dispositif d'insertion/extraction optique. Le capteur à effet Hall facilite la surveillance de l'insertion ou de l'extraction du cavalier à fibres optiques à partir du dispositif d'insertion/extraction optique.
