A method significantly reduces the average power for radio communication in a communication system, such as a system that has applications requiring low communication latency. The method may use a low power radio communication circuit (e.g., a non-heterodyne receiver) to wait for a communication request, taking advantage of the low power consumption of the ra-dio communication circuit. Subsequent to receiving and validating the communication request, the communication system may switch to a more efficient -- but higher power -- communication circuit. Thus, effective communication is achieved without mak-ing undesirable tradeoffs, such as reduced sensitivity.
L'invention concerne un procédé qui réduit de manière significative la puissance moyenne pour une radiocommunication dans un système de communication, tel qu'un système qui a des applications nécessitant un faible temps de latence de communication. Le procédé peut utiliser un circuit de radiocommunication à basse puissance (par exemple un récepteur non hétérodyne) pour attendre une demande de communication, tirant profit de la faible consommation énergétique du circuit de radiocommunication. Suite à la réception et à la validation de la demande de communication, le système de communication peut commuter vers un circuit de communication plus efficace, mais à puissance supérieure. Ainsi, une communication efficace est obtenue sans faire de compromis indésirables, tels qu'une sensibilité réduite.
