ABSTRACT: The invention relates to a device for the starting and feeding of a discharge lamp, the device being provided with two input terminals which are inter- connected by means of a coil and the primary winding of an auto-transformer, the lamp being connected in series with a capacitor between the ends of the secondary winding of the transformer. During the operating condition of the lamp the core of the transformer becomes saturated. According to the invention the lamp is a low- pressure sodium vapour discharge lamp which lamp is shunted by an electronic starter. Besides starting of the lamp this starter assists - if necessary also, in the operating con- dition of the lamp, in the restart of the lamp during each half cycle of the electric supply. -15-
