A low smoke firefighter training hydrocarbon composition and process. The compositions preferably contain alkanes and avoid aromatics. Ferrocene or certain other volatile iron compounds are incorporated in the compositions which are readily ignitable but not dangerously so. The process enhances firefighter training while reducing smoke and soot to the surrounding environment.
L'invention se rapporte à une composition d'hydrocarbures à faible émission de fumée et à son procédé d'utilisation dans l'entraînement des pompiers. Ces compositions contiennent de préférence des alcanes, les aromatiques étant évités. Le ferrocène et certains composés de fer volatils sont incorporés dans les compositions qui sont facilement inflammables, mais non dangereuses. Le procédé permet d'améliorer l'entraînement des pompiers tout en réduisant les émissions de fumée et de suie dans l'environnement.
